A child fighting a serious illness shouldn’t have to be alone. Mom and dad are needed close by for the love and comfort that only they can give. Join our community of love and help provide care and resources needed when caring for a sick child.
Located less than one mile from Duke Children’s Hospital, the Durham House welcomes 55 families each night. Families staying at this “home-away-from-home” find a comfy bed and a safe place to sleep each night, as well as a home-cooked meal and activities for the kids. Families tell us, however, that the most important thing we offer is the opportunity for sharing with other families who are going through similar situations.
In 2015, we opened a five-bedroom House located within WakeMed Children’s Hospital’s Heart Center Inn. Families staying at this “home-away-from-home” find a comfy bed and a safe place to sleep each night. A continental breakfast, meal vouchers, a welcome kit and other support is provided for each family. Bi-weekly lunches for each pediatric unit provide opportunities for families to connect and support other families who are going through similar situations.
Helping with Homers charity is a pride and joy for the West Raleigh Baseball community.
West Raleigh Baseball is known for its family atmosphere and competitive nature on the field. We are most proud of the support our kids and our West Raleigh family gives to the community, off the field. Helping with Homers is a fun way to give back to families with children facing way more than a hard fastball. Our kids embrace and accept the challenge to help others in need. We truly hope Helping with Homers and our West Raleigh family can help you too!
The day will be surrounded with fun, food, home runs and our very own parents and coaches slugging it away in a softball tournament. This is all in effort to support the Ronald McDonald House of Durham & Wake. We could not be more honored to help such a wonderful organization.
