Returning players may register and pay the full program fee upon initial registration. New players will pay the tryout fee, and if drafted will be invoiced for the balance of the fee after teams are selected.

Major League (ages 11 - 12) - $335
Minor League (ages 9 - 10) - $335
Rookie League (ages 6 - 8) - $335
Modified Coach Pitch (ages 5 - 6) - $235
*Age is set as of April 30, 2026

Each player selected to a team will also have a $150
fundraising minimum as part of the Spring Fundraising Raffle.

What to Expect at Tryouts

Players will demonstrate the following:

Fielding (ground balls and pop-ups)
Throwing
Catching a ball at first base from another player
Hitting (5 pitches are given from a coach)
Running
Minor and Major league players: given opportunity to show pitching and catching skills (not required) at the end of their tryout time

If you cannot attend tryouts, you may make a tryout video. Please include the items above and email it to the League 2 days prior to when tryouts occur. When sharing the videos, please upload them to a Google Drive and change the sharing to "Anyone with a Link." This will allow coaches to watch these videos before tryouts.

What are coaches looking for?

Good technique in getting in front of the ball
Accurate throws
Being able to catch a ball properly
Good swing
Players speed and quickness, hustle and demeanor (e.g., if they miss a ball, they just get ready for the next play)

While a child might not perform perfectly at every drill, their attitude and resiliency are evaluated throughout the tryout. Head coaches and their coaching staff, evaluate the players and then rank them according to their team needs for the draft.

West Raleigh Baseball is a Cal Ripken and PONY affiliated league that hosts nearly 500 players from 4 to 12 years old each season. Home games are played at the historic West Raleigh Exchange Club in the heart of Raleigh.
